Paper Abstract:      Presently, the distribution of the digital content is majorly being done in the compressed and encrypted domain. For this purpose, faster techniques are employed for encrypting the host signal and also the watermark to enhance security levels. Homomorphic encryption is considered as one such solution for image watermarking in this domain. During last many years, several research groups have applied many symmetric and asymmetric encryption techniques for secure watermarking. Paillier encryption offers additive privacy homomorphism and is found to be suitable for image processing applications in general and for watermarking in particular. In this paper, the Paillier encryption is employed for watermarking of three different compressed images obtained by ASWDR (Adaptively Scanned Wavelet Difference Reduction) coding. The results are found to be encouraging both in terms of visual quality and the correlation coefficient values obtained after carrying out the watermark embedding and its subsequent extraction. The proposed embedding scheme ensures robustness towards selected image processing attacks.
