Paper Abstract:      Current text input interfaces are mostly designed for native users, which do not take into account non-natives. In this paper, we propose a Romanized handwriting text input interface of Myanmar language (Burmese) for non-native users. We use Romanization only for consonant characters, and vowels can be typed by pressing 4 directional arrow buttons. Positional Prediction (PP) text input concept was used for predicting possible combinations of a consonant and vowels or a syllable. Our approach makes it possible to type Myanmar text not only for native users but also for non-native users with just basic knowledge of Myanmar script. This Romanized handwriting text input interface is applicable to Asian syllabic languages such as Khmer, Nepali, Thai, Bengali, Hindi and Sinhala.
