Paper Abstract:
|
Requirements engineering (RE) is a branch of computer science which care of requirements understanding and specification in order to build software systems. By observing its progression, we see that no unified framework is proposed in the literature for the requirements engineering domain. A unified framework is necessary in order to avoid dispersion of ideas and suggestions, and keeping the advancement of the domain in the right direction. In this article, we go back to the basics of the requirements engineering domain, in order to identify a unified framework for the requirements specification technique. The requirements specification technique is the most important technique of the requirements engineering domain. Therefore, we present and we compare the basic methods of the requirements engineering domain, which are the structured analysis, i* framework and goal-oriented method, and we discuss the integration of these methods in the model driven architecture (MDA) as a software engineering approach, then we propose the MDA-RE framework for the requirements specification technique. Our proposed framework allows producing computation independent models (CIMs), which are until now not defined. The proposed framework is a result of our comparisons, and helps requirements engineers to perform their tasks comfortably. |
