Paper Abstract:
|
Several research strands either contrast the notion of affect with their reductive counterparts or emphasise its role in
regards to the design of engaging and pleasurable user experiences, in particular in the context of user experience in
Human-Computer-interaction, and more recently, internet interaction. In this essay, however, I will argue that the role of
affect exceeds overcoming a reductive technical perspective as well as generating positive emotional responses in
interaction. Indeed, affect plays an essential part at a much earlier stage of our interactions, i.e. when forming our
motivations and (interaction) strategies. |
