Because of the competitive economy, organizations today seek to rationalize, innovate and adapt to changing environments and circumstances as part of their efforts. We discuss in particular the use of linguistic summaries for business intelligence reporting, and the strength of this approach to enhance the support in efficiency and effectiveness of business execution. The strength of linguistic summaries approach lies in its possibility to provide explanation to the business managers, in a humanly understandable way, regarding the actual state of business execution, insights to support better decisions and provisions regarding future activities, therefore providing transparent way to analyze and use data in their possession. Solid business intelligence reporting is essential to control and assure organizational evolution. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to present a reference enterprise architecture for data collection and mining of summaries, applicable to companies. Additionally, it aims to analyze the challenges and opportunities associated with the implementation of linguistic summaries in business intelligence reporting, particularly considering diverse data types and amounts of data. |
