Paper Abstract:
|
Due to the increased complexity of automotive electronic systems, novel solutions must be brought up to decrease the amount of discrete microcontrollers and thereby the costs of developing electronic systems for automotive applications. FPGAs provide a flexible architecture for implementing automotive applications to be executed in parallel. Soft-core processors like the Xilinx MicroBlaze allow multiple implementation on one FPGA. A multiprocessor system based on the MicroBlaze soft-core processor can then be used as a platform for executing several applications in parallel on a FPGA. The usage of models of applications described in Matlab Stateflow enables a design flow from a high abstraction level down to C-Code. For real-time applications, the system reaction time is an important matter. Therefore analysis of real-time capability is necessary before integrating a system in a real-world environment. This paper presents the realisation of automotive control functions on several processors to be executed in parallel on one FPGA. Also, this system has the capability of real-time software task migration for substituting functions on demand during run-time. |
