Paper Abstract:      The results of the implementation and test of an immersive system to teach human anatomy using Virtual Reality are summarized in this work. Real human bones were scanned in order to create a realistic 3D model of a knee joint using X3D that allows user interaction in order to study the mobility of that joint. A second X3D model was generated using nuclear magnetic resonance imagery in order to create a pseudo-3D system that can also be manipulated in order to select the desired view of a real knee joint. Both models were used in real lectures of Human Anatomy, using different 3D visualization and interaction systems to evaluate the students learning experience, with successful results.
