Paper Abstract:
|
Many college instructors are using podcasts to distribute course lectures, enabling students to use their portable media
players as study aids. This paper describes the impact of student-created podcast media on learning, of both topic-specific
knowledge and relevant podcasting technologies. The paper also shares web-based resources for automating the process
of updating a podcast feed and converting the audio into searchable text, making podcasting an even more-viable
technology for teaching and learning. By creating podcasts, students learn multimedia technologies and share their
knowledge with their classmates. Students use mobile devices to review each others podcasts, creating a community of
learners both inside and outside the classroom. An end-of-semester survey suggests that students find the process of
creating their own podcasts and viewing their classmates podcasts to be beneficial to their own learning process. |
