Paper Abstract:
|
The paper subjects elements of the Shannons mathematical theory of communication to a phenomenological thought experiment using the example of an undergraduate searching in databases for academic articles on state-sponsored terrorism. It argues that although the theory provides a reasonably good description of student experiences it is limited and that subjective, dialogical, and critical elements are ignored. |
