Paper Abstract:      This paper proposes a new learning course for novice software programmers to learn software engineering holistically as the first year education, so that students can learn to know not only how to write programs but also what to learn more to do it better, while comprehending the role of each process in the software development. The outcomes of the course are also described by showing both examples of products and results of reaction-level evaluation. It is envisioned that results of this study will inform the development of the future first year education of software engineering.
