Paper Abstract:
|
This research aims at developing a collaborative future visioning method that involves crowds of people in an idea making process for designing lifestyle and services of the future society. Instead of resorting to the professionals forecasting and scenario making, the proposed method utilizes wants and desires expressed by ordinary persons such that generated visions are to be more welcomed by these people than those just provided by the experts. In order to realize such a co-creative future visioning method, an online web-based ideation platform was created using the Twitter API to crowdsource tweets of wants, desires, and ideas for the future life. In addition, we set up a story world where an actual future visioning project was performed by a fictional research company. Such a playful make-believe setting is expected to engage participants in expressing their ideas more easily and casually. It was found out from the evaluation of the project that the participants indeed welcomed their co-created future visions and more active participants were more empathic with the images of services generated collaboratively by the company and agents. |
