Paper Abstract:
|
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) computations are time consuming intensive simulations best performed on large parallel computers in order to yield reasonable computing times. This paper focusses on a fast solution of the pressure Poisson equation which has to be solved at every time step of the Navier-Stokes equations using a fractional time step method, and poses a major time consuming factor in CFD simulations. The applied data structure is explained in detail as well as the solution mechanism based on a multi-grid like solver integrated directly in the geometric structure. Time and performance measurements, as well as convergence characteristics will be shown and discussed in detail. |
