Paper Abstract:
|
This study describes the process of designing (color, typeface, composition), packaging, and selling e-learning software, while also considering the effect of the proposed design. This case study describes a packaging design and software screen design. The software is assumed to be physically sold in bookstores or personal computer (PC) shops, rather than through downloads from the cloud. The packaging design of products sold previously were reviewed by considering the lifestyle of university students, the main target users of the products, the price range that they can afford, and the color, typeface, and message to be printed on the packaging that comprises the proposed design. The company that sells the software is the Narero Corporation, which is based in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture in Japan. This company develops and sells e-learning software tools, and has a market share of about 10% in Japan. The author and the Narero Corporation have collaborated since 2010. This article primarily considers the packaging design and software screen design that were created as part of our collaborative study, while considering the definition of e-learning and its historical background. This paper begins with some definitions, followed by a description of the design process, and ends with a description of the effects of the abovementioned design. |
