Paper Abstract:      A sports training diary records an athlete’s daily training details, such as the volume and intensity of daily workouts, the amount of sleep and the early morning heart rate. These records are extremely important for the athletes and coaches, both from a performance and a clinical point of view. In recent years, these records have adopted the digital presentation. Newer and sophisticated information systems ease the adjustment of training programs, the benchmarks of different athlete's performances, the detection of over-training symptoms, and the identification of risk of injuries, etc. The advances in mobile devices industry are shaping the way, athletes record and analyze their training data. This research first aims to recognize what are the open-source software projects providing mobile training diary record softwares. Secondly, it collects and analyses the feedback, which the users of those applications are providing on the Internet. A total of five open-source software projects were identified based on three different mobile phone platforms. Internet pages involving each project were carefully observed to analyze the feedback that users are giving to different projects. The considerable amount of positive feedback and new feature requests suggests that the popularity of these applications will increase, while the open-source developers are busy implementing new features addressing sports user needs.
