Paper Abstract:
|
By definition, smart environments consist of different kinds of devices, sensors, user interfaces and underlying networks
that connect all these together. Making all these work together seamlessly, however, is not necessarily that uncomplicated
due to incompatible devices, networks and requirements. This paper presents a practical approach into smart space
design, and describes the design and implementation processes involved. To remain practical, simulations and plain
laboratory tests were replaced by an actual smart home environment, the Smart Home. This modern home serves as a
platform for connecting different network types, sensors, actuators and user interfaces together to create an unobtrusive,
relaxing, practical and cost effective living environment to its users. |
