Paper Abstract:      Due to the application and popularization of information and communications technology (ICT), student reading habits have been observed to change, with a trend toward online reading. This study uses the survey data of OECD/PISA2009 to analyze how the online behavior of students influences reading literacy in the four regions of Shanghai, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. We use the decision tree as the method to analyze the data. The results reveal that across the four regions, student reading literacy does not exclusively depend on online reading and family-related equipment, but it also depends on whether students can read online using ICT or not. Across all of the four regions, the main factor affecting students reading literacy is the information resources of their families. The families with more adequate information resources will be able to enhance their student’s reading literacy. Another important influenced factor is the student’s online reading habits, which can improve their reading literacy performance.
