Paper Abstract:
|
The paper deals with an experience of online orientation, the Sud Est Project (SEP). We designed a website for high
school students, following precise theoretical guidelines. Orientation is a process that unfolds over an extended period of
time, not an event that is completed in a day or two. We developed a tool useful for self orientation: a website that
contains information on the University of Macerata, and which also guides students to reflect upon their selfrepresentations
as a person and as a student. We proposed questions to help students recognize their personal interests,
strengthens and weakness. We did not provide any answers, and we also avoided using orientation tests. We assert that
students can reach a self orientation through a guided reflection and self evaluation. We stressed the role of peers, too,
giving many possibilities for interacting, directly or indirectly, with students who were a little bit older than themselves.
We opted for a language useful for young people, mainly composed of pictures and videos rather than written texts.
The paper will show the principal topics in the building of the website, the underlying the theoretical framework, some of
the challenges, and the outcomes of this work. |
