Paper Abstract:      The paper analyzes the problems related to the database design. The CASE (Computer Aided/Assisted Software/System Engineering) tools are used to design a database. These CASE tools have to provide with a set of tools to verify and validate the design. The commercial tools have wizards for the graphic design. However, they do not validate and verify the conceptual schemata in a way optimal. This paper is about this topic, though it is limited to the analysis and verification of ternary relationships. A big number of these tools do not work with this kind of relationships because they are complex. This work develops two algorithms for the validation and verification of a relationship and its simplification. In addition, we will demonstrate that if the decomposition is valid, this one will have semantic anomalies.
