Paper Abstract:
|
Classroom experimentation is a unique approach to simulation gaming that has developed rapidly in economics over the past decade. It is also a field in which the medium of interaction between participants and the instructor has been a source of both obstacles and opportunities. This paper provides a review of the experimental approach to economics education, emphasising the key design features of an experiment that may influence the choice of technology, and discusses current work on mobile implementations of such experiments. Mobile technologies can contribute significantly to overcoming the limitations of current designs, although at this stage no single technology is optimal for all applications. However, the proven interest in classroom experiments as an approach to pedagogy, combined with the rapid evolution of mobile technologies, make this a potentially highly fertile area for future work by educators and developers alike. |
