Paper Abstract:      This paper explores instructors’ perceptions and experiences of using mobile phones in education. It conducted in-depth interviews with a small group of instructors who taught in a private educational institution in Brazil. Key findings suggest that none of the instructors had formally integrated the mobile phone into their teaching. Most of them were not aware of the opportunities offered by the mobile phone as a teaching tool and lacked knowledge and skills on how to use it in the classroom. Based on findings, the paper discusses the implications for professional development to support instructors to integrate effectively mobile phones into teaching.
