Paper Abstract:	The paper proposes a maturity model for reference modeling. Basing on theoretical reflections on conceptual modeling and reference modeling as well as on purposes for business process modeling, basic principles for classifying existing process modeling techniques are derived. The resulting framework considers the three model purposes informing, designing, and deciding as well as aspects of formalization of communication and it-support for model evolution. The presented framework should serve as a conceptual baseline for future theoretical and empirical research.
