Paper Abstract:
|
Electronic and mobile Commerce have proven to be highly successful in improving cost efficiencies and driving revenue growth for corporations worldwide. Interestingly, the technologies have also permanently altered the traditional models of business. Being successful in the electronic environment demands change in terms of the business, organisation and technology. The problem to be addressed is 'What are the critical business success factors in a Mobile Commerce implementation and how does an organisation use these guidelines as a framework to ensure a successful implementation of the technology in their business?' The NDC case study provides preliminary evidence of how e-Commerce (and in particular m-Commerce) technology may be incorporated into a company framework and be used effectively to enhance process efficiency and improve trading partner relationships. It illustrates how NDC have used m-Commerce technology to effectively monitor and manage their EDI Gateway and improve business processes by reducing downtime and streamlining
inter-organisational communication. It is essential that companies wishing to adopt an m-Commerce strategy plan effectively; select key strategic partners; identify critical customer touch points; and create an integrated, visible, measurable environment in which to conduct business. |
