Paper Abstract:
|
With the increasing reliance of organizations on the work of information systems developers, there has been increasing pressure on ICT professionals to create impactful systems which are very precise, need to satisfy a broad spectrum of users, and must be delivered within strict time deadlines. Such a climate has created significant work stress among ICT professionals worldwide. While traditional stress management techniques such as exercise, diet, relaxing music and meditation have been mentioned as factors for ICT stress management, this paper promotes psychological self-awareness to enable stressed workers to relate to common work stressor in a different psychological state that would mitigate the effect of the stressors on the workers. Two personality typing systems, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Enneagram and also generative and adaptive creativity styles are outlined along with insight as to how increased awareness and application of such factors in a work environment could decrease undesirable stress factors. |
