Paper Abstract:
|
The human fingerprints are unique for every person and can be used as a certificate of identity. Their more famous
application is the criminology. Anyhow, nowadays, the persons' automatic identification by means of the comparison of
fingerprints is expanding rapidly across systems that control the access to physical spaces, resources of computation,
networks, bank accounts, to register entry and exit of personnel in companies, to authorize sensitive operations and to
check and register indubitably the identity of the persons whenever it is necessary. Centring on the police area, the
physical characteristic used for the identification is the fingerprint since it is considered to be one of the surest and
attainable methods and, therefore, widely used. In this paper, a comparison of the automatic feature extraction methods is
presented. |
