Paper Abstract:
|
Most social networking websites operate under an autonomous business model, where users are simultaneously the
producers and consumers of content. Such websites are self-sustainingonce developed its owner(s) can take a passive
role and simply collect profits from advertising or subscription revenues. The owners can do so because the users do the
active work of contributing content daily and of bringing in more users. Is it possible to create a website with selfsustaining
members and profits, which is based on fixed, unchanging content? It seems improbable that a website with
static content could be self-sustaining. However, this paper provides an existence proof of such a website:
LatinVulgate.com. I end by discussing the properties of this website that allow it to operate self-sustainingly. |
