Paper Abstract:      Open Source Communities are typically supported by hundreds o even thousands of developers and users geographically spread all over the world. Participants get in contact using electronic media like CVS, mailing lists and forums in which they can post source code, bugs, problems, doubts or experiences and receive answers, solutions or alternative from other community users. This scheme leads to a structure in which learning takes place as a social process associated to practice and knowledge is captured in the form of code or discussions. This aim of this paper consists of analyzing the stored information to observe the knowledge creation process and its evolution using a case study. Latent semantic analysis techniques will be applied for this purpose. The obtained results will provide new insights about knowledge management in virtual communities.
