Paper Abstract:
|
The execution of IT offshore projects makes high demands on controlling aspects, especially due to spatio-temporal and cultural differences. This paper describes a specific Executive Information System (EIS) for IT offshore projects, supporting the senior management in order to reduce lack of information and risk of inefficient decisions. Furthermore, it answers the question whether an EIS can lead to a higher degree of confidence concerning the acceptance of IT-Offshoring as part of the companies sourcing strategy. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the current situation regarding IT offshore projects, a novel consideration of the managements perspective and requirements in an IT offshore environment has been made. As a result, the IT-Offshore-Score-Tree has been developed. It stands for an EIS particular for IT offshore projects and fulfils the specific requirements conditions of IT offshoring. This novel approach, based on an offshore-specific unbalanced scorecard in combination with a hierarchical ratio system, provides the possibility to control IT offshore projects with few, clear cut and convincing IT offshore specific key performance indicators. |
