Paper Abstract:      Modeling and managing business processes that span multiple organizations involves new challenges, mainly regarding the ability to cope with change, decentralization, and the required support for interoperability. A key to maintain competitiveness is the ability of an enterprise to describe, standardize, and adapt the way it interacts with suppliers, partners, competitors, and customers. In the context of process orientation, enterprises today describe these procedures and interactions in terms of business processes, and invest huge efforts to describe and standardize these processes. The main objective of this paper is to contribute to the understanding of the Business Process Modelling field focusing on the definition of the Inter-Organizational Business Processes (IOBP) from a high-level modelling perspective. In order to clarify all the fundamental concepts that surround this field in an e-procurement system, we investigate commonly used business process languages on their suitability to model IOBP.
