Paper Abstract:
|
This paper examines the promotional techniques which are being employed by the travel and tourism industry in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda. A total of 421 websites of tourist organisations from the four African countries, and for comparison, 181 websites of the top ten tourist destinations in Europe were accessed and examined for onsite promotional techniques. The results from the survey showed that African tourism organisations are lagging behind their European counterparts in the promoting of their websites. It is recommended that the tourism organisations from the four African countries use the power of the Internet to increase awareness of its products and services through their websites in the global marketplace. |
