Paper Abstract:
|
In distance education learners are isolated in different locations. The learning experience for these learners can be made more personal by increased interaction opportunities. With adequate feedback a constructive learning experience is possible that may even exceed the traditional face-to-face approach. Mobile technology will allow increased learner interaction in many different ways including learner with course material, learner with learner, learner with instructor, and collaborative conferencing all in real or near real time from anywhere that participants happen to be at any particular time. Mobile education is important because it changes the nature of the learning experience from a just-in-case learning paradigm where the learner is preparing for what may happen later to a just-in-time paradigm where the learner is doing something that has immediate value. |
