Paper Abstract:
|
This paper discusses some of the underlying reasons why information system (IS) researchers have had difficulty mixing quantitative and qualitative paradigms and argues it is imperative that researchers move beyond traditional adherence to a particular method of inquiry. Information system by its nature is a complex system that needs to be studied from a combination of perspectives, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Various combinations have been described by several IS researchers; however, use of these multi-methods are still relatively new in the context of IS research. The author suggests that the success of IS research on managing the complexities involved, lies in the combination of both quantitative and qualitative research perspectives, methods and tools. |
