Paper Abstract:
|
The intranet is a central intra-company communication tool. It primary serves requirements to support the employees dealing with their daily work. First, an intranet has to provide possibilities to store and retrieve data. Further, a smooth intra-company communication can only be achieved by a possibility to publish information. At last employees depend on useful tools for handling their daily tasks. With an intranet system, that consists of an Enterprise Content Management System (ECM System) and a Wiki, as many requirements as possible can be realized. The ECM System provides tools for efficient document management. The second requirement is served by a collaborative information distribution software called Wiki. By integrating the ECM System into the Wiki, a storage of Wiki content into the ECM repository and an access to ECM functionalities from the Wiki can be achieved. Storing intranet documents as well as Wiki pages in the ECM repository provides a central information availability for the employees. Additionally documents can easily be found and linked in the Wiki using the integrated ECM functionalities. With an extension of the ECM System e.g. by a workflow component also the tools in the Wiki can be expanded. |
