Paper Abstract:      Environmental sustainability is among the main global challenges of the 21st century. Although information systems that can provide data and insights about the status of the environment are considered valuable to better handle sustainability concerns, their potential is still not fully realized. Moreover, information systems research for sustainability is proceeding at a slow pace in relation to the real needs of our society. Therefore, this doctoral paper aims at embracing the urgent call for studies about sustainability from an Information Systems perspective. Through a case study in the Norwegian aquaculture industry, my work will contribute in understanding how companies can address environmental challenges by relying on digital technologies and their (IS-enabled) sensing, seizing, and recombining capabilities.
