Paper Abstract:      This work presents some results of Gene Expression Programming (GEP), an Artificial Intelligence technique, which is used for computation of interest rates in uniform payment series. The GEP is a Gene Programming’s evolution, which is, in turn, part of Genetic Algorithms. GEP seeks mathematical functions, adjusting them to a set of known solutions through genetic heuristics, from a random functions population. Therefore, we tried to determine an expression for calculating the interest rate of uniform payment series, which is an implicit term. The results obtained were then compared with another approximate equation, i.e. the Karpin’s Formula. The Gene Expression Programming has been appropriate in the case of this study.
