Paper Abstract:
|
The purpose of this paper is to provide information on the integration of mobile learning in the blended mode of learning.
This project was initiated early this year and results from a survey conducted on the readiness of Open University
Malaysia (OUM) students showed that 82 percent of the students feel that they are ready to be in the m-learning
community. The results from the survey together with the latest innovations in the mobile phones provided greater
support to the institution to move into incorporating mobile learning into learning system. Therefore, this paper will lay
out a pedagogical framework that will be drawn in designing the m-learning resources at OUM. The four main
components which will be regarded in the framework are the a) content delivery b) learning styles c) learning resources
and d) learning-teaching strategies. This improvement plan in our learning system is a step forward for the institution to
provide life-long learning and education for all especially to the rest of the population who are in the unreachable areas in
the country. However, the possibility of the success of adopting the mobile learning system in OUM is highly dependent
on the learning content and the technology that will support the delivery of this mode of learning. |
