Paper Abstract:
|
GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) can be used for general-purpose computations like numerical calculations as well as graphic processing, so GPGPU (General Purpose computing on Graphic Processing Unit) attracts a great deal of attention. By implementing Fractal image coding algorithms on GPUs with CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture), we evaluate the effectiveness of the shared memory using the coalesced communication and reveal that the performance greatly depends on the occupancy of threads. |
