Paper Abstract:
|
Using a research design that minimizes contrast effects, this study provides evidence that there is identity continuity between the real world and the virtual world. We found a certain degree of similarity between the real self and the virtual world avatar in terms of physical characteristics. The subjects activities in the virtual world also reveal their real world gender and to a lesser extent their cultural background and the degree of urbanness and openness to experience. |
