Paper Abstract:

Employing more than 4000 workers, the Swiss watch industry is the third most important exporting sector in the country.
With another record year in 2006, exportations have increased 13% in comparison to the previous year. SMEs compose
the majority of companies active in this sector. For these firms, Internet represents a new channel and business
opportunities to reach foreign markets and make international sales. Indeed, the web has become a tool frequently used
for international marketing, allowing SMEs to communicate with partners at a low cost, reach new markets or get closer
to their clients.
The object of this article is to study the use of e-business technologies (Internet/Intranet/Extranet) by SMEs exporting
watch industry. Through seven case studies, we will analyze and situate functions and adoption level related to ecommerce
applications. |
