Paper Abstract:
|
Today, E-Learning practices are commonly applied in different types of / various organizations. The organizations that use such practices expect to make savings in expenses and to improve the efficiency of knowledge transfer. Although there are many E-Learning success stories where both of these goals could be achieved, far too many E-Learning projects fail in one, sometimes even in both, of these aspects. Some initial studies investigating the causes for such an unsatisfactory situation have been conducted. However, we believe that more research work is needed to shed light on these issues. The goal of this paper is to investigate the influence of implicit social networks that exist within organizations, along with the influence of communication networks, on the final learning outcome in a given E-Learning course. Thus the paper presents a theoretical framework that allows us to measure correlation coefficients between the different affiliations that exist in an organization and the final learning outcome. To demonstrate the feasibility of the framework we apply it to a real-world industrial setting and discuss the results of our analysis. |
