Paper Abstract:
|
This study aims to investigate the characteristics of online music information needs. It collects 500 online music queries of music information needs for unknown-item search to explore the characteristics and identify the patterns and relationship in user query formulation in Social Q&A environment. Research findings suggested that expression of online music needs for unknown-item search can be divided into two major categories, objective information (bibliographical information, peripheral information, referential information) and subjective description (intent, affection, and context). Its purpose is to construct a context-based classification scheme of music information needs for unknown-item search from the demand side, with an expectation to inform the design of a creative music search and discovery system. |
