Paper Abstract:
|
Fostering the bottom-up formation of effective teams in response to complex information is a difficult and pressing
problem. For example, how does a local community develop and coordinate a response to a complex global problem such
as climate change, or how does a trans-disciplinary design team gather and act in response to external opportunities? In
this paper, we describe the implementation of a multi-agent system that interacts with a wiki to support collaboration in
emergent processes. The system exploits the specifics of the wiki hypertext and the assumption that human users are well
motivated and cooperative. Rather than reason about human teams, specialized personal information agents implement
recommender systems designed to foster a network community. |
