Paper Abstract:
|
The following paper examines the approach of an ontology based repository service, including its advantages and
disadvantages concerning knowledge-management.
By following this approach, knowledge - mainly represented in a natural linguistic way - in the form of statements should
be processed and accessed in a more efficient and structured way. The described repository service is a solution for this
problem. In addition to that, a repository allows to representing the concepts of a domain in a consistent and normalized
way throughout a complex enterprise. Proceeding from commonly used ontology definitions, a possible extension for
definitions is introduced, as it shows a linguistic-critical approach, and the possible foundation of the ontology is
examined by using its own structure.
The structure of the ontology considers concepts as well as instances. Therefore it is possible to distinguish between
knowledge and information. By doing so the exchange of knowledge is simplified. Supported through a reasoning
mechanism, it is possible to extend the some statements semi-automatically. Heading that vision, the first step is a
mapping of natural linguistic grammar to OWL DL grammar and vice versa. |
