Paper Abstract:
|
Collaboration is one of the main uses of the Internet and a variety of tools have been developed to support it. Unfortunately, most are restricted to one or several specific modes of interaction and very few offer all useful functionality while being extendible and customizable. Text-based Virtual Environments (TVEs) represent a paradigm that allows feature integration within an easy-to-understand metaphor and FCVW the subject of this paper - is a collaborative environment built on TVE principles. We explain the background, FCVW architecture, and some aspects of its implementation, discuss difficulties encountered in its development, and conclude with a summary of our current work and future goals. |
