Paper Abstract:
|
The term digital memory is widely used with multiple definitions in different contexts ranging from hardware design to archival studies. Considering that definition is critical for conducting academic research as it decides the research boundary and research scope, this paper aims to first answer the question of how digital memory should be defined from the perspective of information science. Followed by a proposal of a theoretical model of digital memory applications according to an information science perspective, including purpose, organization structure and information architecture scheme. This research is conducted using a series of sequential and connected critical review of literature processes, using Google Scholar as the source of data. The final result was the definition of digital memory in the context of digital humanities is general, information science in particular. Additionally, the research also explored potential roles of information scientists in digital memory studies. Finally, this paper proposes a new model of digital memory from the perspective of information science that can be further used both in practice and applied research in the future. |
