Paper Abstract:
|
Electronic paper is a new material technology for displays. It is developed independently by the companies Gyricon Media (USA), E Ink (USA) and Siemens (Germany). Electronic paper consists of a thin, flexible plastic foil containing an arrangement of particles embedded in a liquid and adjusted in an electrical field. It can be used in display panels, computer displays and especially in displays for mobile devices. The usage as electronic newspaper is only one possible application. The electronic newspaper needs to be embedded into a mobile network to be filled with up-to-date contents. These contents can be broadcasted through
UMTS-networks, which allow data rates high enough for the contents of a newspaper. Besides the representation of these contents the electronic newspaper offers additional functionalities like personalization, storage and refreshment of contents or
hardware-ergonomic functionalities. |
