Paper Abstract:      The growth and development of the Internet and, in particular, the Web has resulted in the application of new theoretical perspectives for learning. Information and Communication Technologies seem to spread over every field of human activities. One of the fields where ICT are becoming more productive in research is education, where, however, they are hard to implement. The reason seems to be the fact that eLearning, seen as the use of ICT for learning, implies a profound change in the concept of education. Here we present our development for eLearning and analyse the effect of such a system on diverse aspects of education. AWLA is a Writing Learning Appliance to write on the Web anywhere anytime, designed to practise writing on a task basis in appropriate teacher-designed scenarios for language learning. It enables writing in collaboration. The aspects of the changing infrastructure, methods, roles and scenarios in this new way of learning enhanced with technology are analysed throughout the paper, together with some functionalities offered by the AWLA resource for writing, for learning how to write and for learning in general, as our contribution to eLearning. AWLA allows the mixture of traditional face-to-face learning with learning online in a Blended Learning environment. We focus on the necessary attitudinal changes and the steps to take in order to make this new way of learning effective.
