Paper Abstract:
|
Mesh parameterization is very useful for numerous computer graphics applications and in many engineering analyzing
regions. Due to the great differences of many complex models, one of the mesh parameterization problems of these
models is the uniformity of the mapped meshes. As traditional linear barycentric mappings cannot solve such a problem,
several non-linear boundary-free algorithms were proposed. Though the un-uniform problem is solved in certain length,
several new problems appear, such as algorithms not effective on irregular boundaries, difficult to operate, and so on. We
present here an effective uniform mesh parameterization method for boundary complex models. Such a method still uses
simple boundaries such as rectangle or circle. The key idea is to make the flattened mesh to be more uniform. After
defining the criterions of uniformity, comparisons of different available linear mesh parameterization methods and our
method are given in detail. It reveals that our method is effective for many complex models than available methods. |
