Paper Abstract:      E-government efforts can provide various benefits to the society: transparency, investment control, delivery of services, among many others. Making business and citizens’ life easier could be considered some of the ultimate objectives of an electronic government project, with the use of modern technologies to improve the interaction, making the processes faster and simpler. This idea is one of the central topics in the e-government and this paper intends to support empirical evidence to this. Data was collected from Doing Business 2010 Report and United Nations E-Government Survey 2008. A total of 176 countries was present in both reports composed the final sample. After a data compilation that joined the different sources into a single database, significant correlations were found between e-government readiness and various dimensions that compose the Ease of Doing Business Rank, suggesting that countries that have a higher e-government readiness could benefit from a faster and more dynamic business atmosphere. Implications of the findings are also suggested.
