Paper Abstract:
|
The purpose of this paper is to describe the process the authors followed in developing a new multimedia courseware. The courseware reported in this paper has been developed to support Non Arabic Speakers (NASs) in their efforts to learn Arabic language. In particular the courseware focuses on supporting NASs in learning the pronunciation of the Restricted Arabic Consonants (RACs). A review of the most popular and common courseware and websites used for teaching Arabic language to NASs is provided. Then, the methodology and the model used in developing the multimedia courseware is described and explained focusing on instructional design model proposed by Alessi and Trollip. In addition, the iterative methodology that uses prototypes, feedback and evaluation during the different stages of design is described. Finally, the paper reports the initial results obtained from the individuals who tested the courseware prior it launch. |
