Paper Abstract:
|
This paper presents HVDC-Sim, a complex system that aims at simulating the control desk for an HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Power System. The HVDC-Sim has a very complex single interface that is responsible for simulating the real control desk that monitors information of an entire power system. In addition to the inherent complexity of the interface, another challenge faced by the development team was the need to deal with mutable requirements. To support the development of a robust and extensible system simulator we have focused on the design, using architectural and design patterns. These patterns have been considered as an important element in order to provide a more adequate solution in the system architecture and design. Experiences reporting the use of architectural and design patterns in a complex system is interesting and aims at contributing to reply the same experience in other situations. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to present our experience using these patterns in the development of the HVDC-Sim. As result, we can point out that these patterns were essentially important in order to facilitate the development, resulting in an extensible system that is currently in use by Furnas Centrais Elétricas, the major company that generates and transmits electricity in Brazil. |
